Patsy Tremayne and her son, Kell Tremayne, have joined forces to combine their knowledge and experience to help junior doctors ace their exams and triumph over a system that is stacked against them.
This has made for a solid and dynamic team with Patsy's decades of experience working in this industry and Kell's up-to-date and rigorous research background. They have even written a second book for junior doctors titled 'Study Less and still blitz your Medical Exams.'
Patsy is an adjunct associate professor at Western Sydney University and has had a private psychology practice for years.
Working in her own sport psychology private practice, Patsy specializes in performance enhancement for medical hospital registrars and consultants. She regularly gives workshops and conference presentations in Sydney and interstate for exam candidates and consultants in a variety of medical specialties. She also regularly presents at national and international conferences on her work with people who must practise under pressure to perform on demand.
She is immersed in helping junior doctors get through their final exams under what are often difficult and stressful conditions. Her 2019 book, Ace Your Medical Exams, is now the go-to study handbook for junior doctors across the country.
In addition, Patsy gives presentations in hospital departments around the country in most of the major specialties. She was made a fellow of the Australian Psychology Association (APA) in 2021.
Kell is joining the practice part-time.
Kell is a senior lecturer and in Psychology at Western Sydney University and has received several awards for his work, including the prestigious APA Outstanding Lecturer in Psychology Award in 2015. He created the positive psychology course now running at Western Sydney University, which received the Vice Chancellor's teaching excellence award.
Course subjects include resilience, sleep hygiene, and factors that increase wellbeing and performance – many of which are outlined in this website and their book. Both Kell and Patsy have experience working with elite athletes and have worked within the New South Wales Institute of Sport in areas that have involved wellbeing, management of stress and anxiety, and how to sustain motivation and confidence in the face of setbacks and challenges.
Kell is also in demand within the corporate world for his knowledge in elite performance, leadership, time management, psychological safety, and stress management.
